Things To Do and See in Batam

Hi...to keep my promises, today I'm going to show you about things to do and to see in Batam.

When you are travelling to Batam Island, maybe you have several questions about BATAM isn’t it ?

Okay…to answer those questions, here are the couple things that you can do and see. 

24 things to do and see in Batam Island :

1. Eating Fresh Seafood.

Yes absolutely. One of the couple things to do in Batam is culinary tour, eating the fresh seafood. No doubt again when we are in Batam, things that we shall eat is the fresh seafood. Batam famous with the delicious and fresh seafood. It’s easy for us to find fresh seafood in Batam. Almost each restaurant in Batam provided fresh seafood. The fresh seafood directly delivery from local fisherman or from others island around Batam. That’s why the freshness assured. A lot of seafood available in Batam like Gong Gong, Crab, Shrimp, various kind of Scallop, Mussel, Snail, Fish and so on. So, do not miss it okay =).

2. Lunch in Sundanese Restaurant Style Other culinary tour is eating local dishes.

 

Why not try local dishes when coming in Batam. Yes…Trying Sundanese foods. A lot of Sundanese restaurant available in Batam. Gurame Goreng, Nasi Timbel are the famous one. And there have a various local dishes available. Enjoyed the ambience in Pondok that made by bamboo. You will feel like in a village. A very quite atmosphere with Sundanese song.

3. Rujak Street We’re still in culinary tour again.

Eating Local Rujak or Rojak. A long the street you will find more than 30 stall that selling Rujak. This is the famous Rujak in Batam Island.

 4. A2 Food Center

A2 Food Center Others culinary tour is A2 Food Center. Located in strategic location A2 almost crowded every night. You will find a lot of local and tourist dinner in this place. You’re going to find various dishes available here.

5. Drinking Beer & eat the EXOTIC MEATS ( Frog, Snake, Bat, Crocodile and Wild Boar Meat ).

In the evening, things that you can do in Batam is drinking fresh beer with your friends or colleague. Enjoy your beer with a suitable dishes like the exotics meats : Bat, Wild Boar, Snake and Crocodile meat. Wow… 

6. Smoking Shisha ( Smoking style from middle east ) 

If you are smoker, one of the couple things that you should do in Batam is Smoking Shisha in Cabuci ( Café Bukit Cinta ). In Cabuci you will enjoy the night view of Batam city. You also can order beer, grilled corn and other meal in this cafe.

7. Visiting Temple

In Batam there are famous temple like Vihara Buddha Maitreya ( the biggest laughing Buddha temple in south east asia ) and Toa Pek Kong ( the oldest temple in Batam Island ). Those temple are tourist destination when they coming in Batam. 


8. Barelang Bridge 

If in San Francisco identical with the Golden Gate bridge and Singapore identical with the Merlion, then Batam city identical with Barelang bridge. This bridge was be the Batam’s Icon. Even has been popular as city landmark. Near in this bridge you are going to find local people selling grilled corn and coconut fruit. You can enjoy the sweet corn and drink coconut water while seeing the view around the bridge and small islands in surrounding. 

9. Playing Golf in World Standards Golf Courses

In Batam there are several golf courses with international standard. You can find the golf courses Tering Bay that has been designed by the legendary Greg Norman who is an international golf course designer.

10. Shopping Branded Shirt in Factory Outlet ( Burberry, Polo & others )

If you would like to shopping branded shirt with pretty cheap price, here are couples factory outlet available in Batam. You can buy super dry shirt, polo shirt and other branded shirt there like burberry shirt. There are Polo Factory Outlet, 1st Factory Outlet, Batik Factory Outlet and Golden Factory Outlet.

11. Chocolate House Shop

For chocolate lover, this is the place that you may consider to go. This chocolate house selling various chocolates, more than 100 types of chocolate available. The special of this shop is selling Batam chocolate. The chocolate made in Batam.

12. Kueh Lapis or Layer Cakes Kueh Lapis in Batam pretty nice.

When you travelling to Batam, one of the souvenir that you should take home is this Kueh Lapis or Layer Cakes. Batam famous with kueh lapis as the souvenir. One box of layer cakes to your colleague or family member is the best choices to them as your gift.

13. Outdoor Adventure 

Things that you may consider to do is outdoor adventure. Playing Flying Fox, Archery, Paint Ball Shooting, Team Building and so on are available in Batam. 

14. Go-Kart 

Having funs with playing Go-Kart. Don’t miss it. Invite your friends or child to having funs with maximum speed in Go-Kart. You can choose the duration. Playing in single or double with your love one.

15. Water Sport Activities

The others interesting things to do in Batam are Playing Water Sport Activities. A lot of water sport activities available in Batam Island. Playing Jet Skiing, Sky Board, Banana Boat, Canoeing, Parasailing etc. ATV ( all terrain vehicle ) also available.

16. Indonesia Miniature House Park

Indonesia had 33 provinces. Each province have they own custom home. And in this place you could see mini house from that 33 provinces in Indonesia. The custom home in small size.

17. Resorts Other place to visit is Resort.

Batam have a couple of resort. You may consider to stay a night in Batam’s Resort. There are Montigo Resort, Turi Beach Resort, KTM Resort, Nongsa Point, Batam View Resort, Palm Spring etc.

18. Shopping Mall 

This is the places that you should not miss when in Batam. Yes…Batam shopping mall. In Batam there are several shopping mall that you may consider to visit.
- Nagoya Hill Mall. This is the biggest shopping mall in Batam 
- BCS Mall. Located in strategic location this mall always crowded. You are going to find a lot of local people and tourist in this mall at weekend. 
- DC Mall. In this mall you are going to find a lot of Muslim fashion shop and computer shop. 
- Mega Mall. Mall that integrated with international ferry terminal. Connected by the bridge to Batam center ferry terminal. 
- Lucky Plaza. Selling Gadget and hand phone accessories 
- Kepri Mall 
- Harbour Bay Mall 

19. Pasar Pagi or Local Market 

Visit local market. See local people’s activities in the morning. You are going to see people selling foods, fruits, vegetable, fish etc. Besides that in local market also sell various snacks like kueh-kueh until dried food stuff. At the weekend a lot of people will come to local market. They have a breakfast, buy kitchen things for cooking etc. 

20. Watching Movie in Studio 

Don’t miss your movies. Watching movies in Batam are very cheap. Entrance ticket only IDR 25.000 – 40.000,-. Go to 21cineplex.com to check your favorite movie in Batam studio. 

21. Spa & Massage

Pamper yourself with 2 hours body massage or spa After full day activities in Batam, things that you really need to do is pampers yourself with 2 hours Spa or massage. Coming Batam without spa or massage is not a completed journey. In Batam island you are going to see a lot of spa and massage services. Spa and massage in Batam very cheap. That’s why each tourist coming to Batam definitely takes minimum 2 hours spa or massage.

22. Clubbing & Karaoke 

See Batam night life. There are a lot of night club, pub and discotheque in Batam. If you would like to clubbing why not try it in Batam. 

23. Riding Bicycle & Mini Pedicab in Ocarina

Invite your child to have fun with riding bicycle and small pedicab in Coastarina in evening. Enjoy the evening atmosphere.
